BBC Children in Need
Volunteering at the
Joe Wicks Ultra Marathon Challenge
Salford Quays, Manchester
Friday 18th November 2022
On behalf of BBC Children in Need, Behind the Scenes is looking to recruit 75+ volunteers to help marshal the Joe Wick’s Ultra Marathon Challenge.

As a finale to the “Walk with Joe” events which have been supported by Park Run in Maidenhead, Newport, Dundee and Nottingham, Joe Wicks will be undertaking one final challenge to raise funds for BBC Children in Need on Friday 18 November.

Starting at 8.30am, Joe will be walking a 2.3mile loop around the pedestrianised area of Salford Quays for 10 laps - joined by various celebrity guests along the way and undertaking 5-minute challenges at the end of each lap at the start/finish location on Media City Piazza. The event will be live streamed onto the BBC CiN Facebook site and finish with Joe walking live into the BBC 1 Appeal show at 7.30pm - which is being filmed in the Dock10 studio next to the Piazza.

The Role

We need 25 volunteers on each shift to marshal the route and help to keep the convoy of 3 filming golf buggies and Joe moving as he and his guests pass by along the route, over bridges and through three high footfall areas – IWM North, the Lowry Plaza and Media City Piazza. Security and medical staff will be in support as needed along the route.

There are 3 shifts – each of 3.5 hours long.

Please select the shift you wish to volunteer for:
