If someone is believed to be on their way to commit harm, but they are not yet at The O2, we will LOCK DOWN to prevent them getting in. This is called a CODE RED. You will receive messages about a CODE RED through the public address system, the radio and via the shop alert system. If you hear a message saying there is a CODE RED you should follow the LOCKDOWN procedure; • Lock any entrance and exit points to the office, restaurant or space that you are in • Make sure that someone has a key to unlock and open doors if required • Move everyone away from windows so that you cannot be seen from outside This may mean moving to another floor • Move to a location that has a minimum of two exit routes • Hide behind a solid cover DO: • Turn off cooking equipment to avoid the risk of fire • Turn off music and tell everyone to turn phones to silent • Keep calm and quiet listening for announcements DON'T: • Allow entry to anyone trying to gain access to your office/unit/place once you have locked the doors. They will be instructed where to go via public address announcements If you are in The O2 Arena: • If there is a show on (or about to go on) it may be decided it is safer to continue • It may be that the show gets stopped but that people are told to remain in the arena as a place of safety • If this is the case an announcement will be made from the stage • In such circumstances all customers and staff on concourses will be told to move inside the arena How will you be informed of an attack: • You may hear screams or people shouting • You may hear gunfire • You will hear a public address announcement saying ‘CODE RED’ NextCODE RED ALPHA If you hear the words ‘CODE RED ALPHA’ this means there is an ATTACK in progress INSIDE The O2 What should you do if there is an attack; • RUN: If possible run to a place of safety (away from the threat) • HIDE: When you can no longer run you should HIDE where you will not be found. Keep quiet and turn off your phones • TELL someone who can help. This will probably be the police on 999 • If you can no longer hide and if you are in immediate mortal danger (and only as a last resort) you should fight back with whatever means are available. How will I know what to do: • Only you can decide what to do • DO NOT STOP TO HELP INJURED PEOPLE. They can be helped later and you may risk putting yourself in more danger • Listen for announcements, direction of shouting and gunfire. Then make a decision on what to do REMEMBER; • CODE RED = LOCKDOWN (If you hear the words ‘Code Red’ or ‘Red Control’, LOCKDOWN. • CODE RED ALPHA = RUN/HIDE/TELL (If you hear the words ‘Code Red Alpha’ or you hear gunfire, RUN/HIDE/TELL). • If you can no longer hide and if you are in immediate mortal danger (and only as a last resort) you should fight back with whatever means are available.
